not gonna work…
boycotting is stupid…
you need help…
These are some of the many negative comments we have had about the boycott. Now, while I do appreciate constructive feedback and comments, some of the stuff we have received is pathetic and people have managed to look completely stupid. Many of the foul comments have been removed, but clearly most of these haters must like it, because they keep coming back - so thanks!
On to the point of this post: Will this boycott work?
This is a question that keeps being asked, and people keep saying it’s not going to work. We started this event on Friday 6th January 2012, and as I write this it’s the 10th January 2012. In those few days, we’ve gained (as I write this) 1181 people attending, 146 members who may do the boycott, and 4498 invited. This is outstanding support, and we are still growing with a new person joining the boycott regularly.
My answer to whether the boycott will work or not is not a definite answer. I am not saying it will make EA do something. But if there are enough people not playing the game, not purchasing the games (especially showtime) and store content, emailing them, contacting them on facebook and twitter etc.. they will become aware and will need to start listening or looking into the cause.
If we continue to get the same amount of support we have been getting, I am pretty sure we can achieve something here. I have been overwhelmed with the support we have been given so far. Worst case scenario is that we don’t get listened to, but EA and the community realise how many of us are against what EA are doing - and further things can be planned.
The boycott starts on the 18th February 2012 will continue until EA listen, currently it’s set to run until after the release of showtime, so if you’re in, don’t buy the game!
Thanks everyone!

We’re almost 1000 people strong, and as I write this 125 people on “maybe”. We are 3 days into the boycott, and have been recognised by many people in the community including people such as the Curtis Paradis Show in under 4 days.
We have also been faced with a lot of criticism, which we will gladly accept and respond to if it is in a nice manner, however we have had cases when people have been simply rude - and the same attitude shall be given back to them.
Be sure to join if you haven’t, and become part of the growing move against what EA are doing to us and the game.
Electronic Arts are simply taking more and more of our money, and failing to live up to the standards of previous Sims games with The Sims 3. The overpriced store being forced down our throat, poor expansions with little content and goal orientated gameplay being added, poor stuff packs, social features which we don’t want, and Electronic Arts not listening and simply rushing the game out of the door.
The players, whom purchase the game, want this game fixed and improved. We want you to listen to us, Electronic Arts, since you’re just taking our money and you’re providing a product declining in quality, in comparison with The Sims and The Sims 2 era.
The boycott involves:
- Completely boycott The Sims 3. Have nothing to do with it. Don’t purchase any Sims 3 games, or content. Don’t play the game. If you wish to play The Sims, play The Sims 2 or The Sims.
- Contact EA. Post on The Sims 3 Facebook pages, their twitter, youtube, the official forums, and email them. We need to get our presence known.
This shall last for a whole week, commencing the 17th February 2012 until the 25 February 2012.
Thanks for your support, and be sure to invite as many people as you can, so we can show EA who they need to listen to, and what they need to do.
